So, you've invested in a professional car coating, and your vehicle boasts an enviable shine that turns heads wherever you go. Now, the challenge lies in maintaining that pristine look. Cleaning a car with a ceramic coating requires a different approach than standard cleaning methods. In this blog, we'll guide you through the steps we take to keep your coated car looking spectacular for years to come. You may use this as a guide to do it yourself.
Step 1: The Wheels
We begin with the wheels since they're the dirtiest and splash dirt and grime everywhere. This reduces the amount of touch-ups we have to do towards the end. Using a variety of soft bristle brushes and dedicated wheel and tire cleaners, we scrub top to bottom, then inside and out. Finally, we rinse off the dirt and grim to introduce shiny wheels.
Step 2: Snow Foam
Using a dedicated coating shampoo, we fill our foam cannon with the appropriate dilutions and blast the vehicle until fully covered. We allow it to dwell a couple of minutes, then rinse off thoroughly. This loosens dirt and grime to reduce scratching and harming the coating in the next step. This also brings back the coating properties.
Step 3: Two-Bucket Method
One bucket is filled with clean water, and another with a pH-balanced car shampoo. The two-bucket method helps prevent dirt and contaminants from returning to the car during cleaning. Working section by section, we dip the microfiber wash mitt into the soapy water, then we glide the mitt in a straight back-and-forth motion, avoiding a circular motion, to minimize the risk of swirl marks. After each section, The mitt is soaked and rinsed in the clean water bucket to remove dirt and contaminants until the entire vehicle is finished.
Step 4: Thorough Final Rinse
After contact washing, we rinse it thoroughly with filtered water to remove all soap residue, beginning at the top and working our way down.
Step 5: Drying with Care
We begin with a leaf blower, starting at the top and working toward the bottom, allowing the beads to roll off. We blow away trapped water on side mirrors, wheels, and crevices as we gently blot away leftover water from the surface with a clean, high-quality microfiber towel. In this step, we also include the door jams.
Step 6: Glass
We use ammonia-free glass cleaners and waffle-weave microfiber towels for the glass. Rolling down the window to get the edges, then working our way from the exterior to the interior, we deliver streak-free glass.
Step 7: Regular Maintenance
Regularly washing your coated car is crucial to maintaining its appearance and the longevity of the coating. It's suggested to have a bi-weekly or monthly cleaning schedule, which we offer on our maintenance tab.
Step 8: More Coating Power
Every 3-4 months, you'll want a coating boost added to your vehicle to revive the properties and give more strength and longevity.
